Cooking in Cape Coast

In Cape Coast - and other places throughout Ghana - you can arrange for a Ghanaian Cuisine workshop. In the workshop, you will use palm oil, plantain, yam, cassava, African eggplant and greens, ground pumpkin seed, Maggie cubes, Adobo seasoning, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and ginger to create a fabulous meal.

You will learn some of the most popular dishes in Ghana, including fufu with groundnut soup, fried plantains with red red, and boiled yam with palava sauce. All three can be made vegetarian, though meat can also be added or eaten along with the dishes.

The preparation and cooking takes about three hours without using one electronic device - aside from a blender, which is optional. The food is cooked in cast iron stand alone stoves, each with its own coal fire. Plastic fans are used to regulate the heat.
